Strong revenue and AI growth plan counteract persistent selloff

Applied Materials opened its $5 billion EPIC Center in Sunnyvale, California, which is positioned as the world's largest research and development facility for semiconductor equipment and process technology. The facility is designed to advance semiconductor manufacturing and involves collaboration with key industry partners such as Intel, TSMC, Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron. The company reported record quarterly revenue of $9.12 billion, up 25% year-over-year, and announced plans to double future revenue by leveraging artificial intelligence. These developments occurred as price action has remained under broader selling pressure.

Anton Kharitonov, expert at Traders Union, views Applied Materials' recent slump as a signal of ongoing vulnerability. He points to the stock’s dip below its 20-day and 50-day moving averages, underscoring strong selling momentum and a breakdown in technical structure. Despite record revenues and a high-profile EPIC Center launch, Kharitonov questions the sustainability of the rally given the oversold but persistently bearish short-term signals. He highlights that mixed oscillator readings and dominant bear power raise the risk of further downside, especially if $439.45 fails as support. "The technical picture remains fragile — I see sellers in control and would not rule out another leg down if sentiment fails to improve," Kharitonov says.
Viktoras Karapetjanc, expert at Traders Union, sees robust opportunity for Applied Materials despite short-term weakness. He highlights the EPIC Center opening and record quarterly revenue as confirmation of the company’s strong industry leadership and accelerating innovation. Karapetjanc emphasizes that the long-term bullish structure remains firmly intact above the 200-day average, and future revenue growth powered by AI signals further upside. He notes that recent volatility offers attractive setups for forward-looking investors. "With fundamentals and partnerships aligned, I expect Applied’s growth story to continue for those who take a constructive stance on recent dips," Karapetjanc asserts.
Parshwa Turakhiya, analyst, believes Applied Materials presents a sentiment-driven opportunity following the steep sell-off. Turakhiya notes the oversold reading on the Stochastic RSI and the neutral-to-positive MACD, suggesting a setup for a possible bounce near the defined support. He cautions that sellers remain aggressive intraday, but the 57% probability of an upward move keeps short-term strategies in play. "Traders should watch for a reversal around $439.45 while keeping stops tight — the mood is tense, but volatility could bring quick rewards," Turakhiya comments.

Mixed momentum amid oversold signals and gapdown near volatility range

Applied Materials is trading below its 20-day ($487.83) and 50-day ($489.73) moving averages, signaling short- and medium-term pressure from sellers, but remains above its 200-day average ($435.5), indicating a longer-term bullish structure. The nearest resistance is found at $476.38 and support at $439.45, with the Ichimoku Kijun at $479.14 acting as overhead resistance. Momentum indicators are mixed to negative, as the MACD posts a strong buy signal, the ADX reads neutral, and the RSI stands at 51 with a buy forecast. The Stochastic RSI is at 0, indicating an oversold state, while the CCI and Awesome Oscillator are neutral. Bull/Bear Power at -4.14 shows sellers are dominating intraday and forecasts further oversold conditions. The stock opened with a downside gap of about $12.13 or 2.44%, and trades near session lows with intraday volatility at 1.96%. The tone is marked by sustained selling pressure, with divergence between some oversold oscillators and persistent strong selling in BBP.

Earlier, analysts noted that Applied Materials maintained robust momentum amid record revenue growth and strategic industry partnerships. The current shift to short- and medium-term technical weakness introduces a new downside risk, making the $439.45 support level crucial to watch for potential further declines.
