Institutional accumulation rises as price stalls under sustained selling

Arista Networks reported revenue of $3.04 billion for the second quarter of 2026, a 37.7% increase year over year, and achieved $1.02 in diluted earnings per share. The company introduced an open Ethernet rack-scale portfolio and new rack-scale systems for artificial intelligence infrastructure supporting up to 144 accelerators. Institutional investors such as Cultivar Capital Inc. and First Citizens Bank & Trust Co. acquired or increased positions in Arista Networks during the quarter, though price action has remained under broader selling pressure.

Anton Kharitonov, expert at Traders Union, notes that Arista Networks displays pronounced weakness despite robust earnings and new AI product launches. He sees price trading below key moving averages, with the short- and medium-term trend under pressure but long-term support still present. Technical momentum readings and persistent selling highlight the risk of a breakdown below $180.76, while oversold signals may offer limited near-term relief. Institutional interest remains, but does little to buffer against aggressive selloffs and prevailing negative sentiment. Kharitonov warns, "Current market structure favors sellers and I remain cautious until clear buying support returns above resistance."
Viktoras Karapetjanc, expert at Traders Union, highlights Arista Networks’ impressive revenue growth and solid institutional backing this quarter. He views the sharp selling as an opportunity, given AI infrastructure expansion and strong fundamentals. Karapetjanc believes the long-term bullish structure remains intact above the 200-day moving average, with short-term volatility offering entry points for growth-oriented investors. "I see further upside for Arista in the months ahead, fueled by strong demand and positive corporate momentum," he says.
Sholanke Dele, market strategist, views the recent price action as a clear sign of market uncertainty and risk aversion. He notes that sellers have dominated despite the company’s positive news and broad institutional support. Dele warns that volatility and failed momentum may trigger more downside if support breaks. "I do not expect a sustained recovery until confidence stabilizes and intraday volatility subsides," Dele says.

Near-term weakness persists as mixed momentum signals suggest exhaustion

Arista Networks is trading below its 20-day and 50-day moving averages at $206.25 and $198.96, but remains above its 200-day moving average at $162.16. This structure signals short- and medium-term weakness from sellers, yet the long-term trend remains supported. The near-term support level is $180.76 and the resistance ceiling is $188.66. Momentum indicators are mixed: the Average Directional Index (ADX) stands at 21.98, reflecting weak selling strength, while the MACD is positive at 2.97 and signals 'Strong Buy', highlighting a divergence between weak trend confirmation and positive momentum. The RSI reads 42.75 and suggests 'Sell' conditions. The Stochastic RSI is at 0, and both the Commodity Channel Index (CCI) at -145.97 and Bull/Bear Power (BBP) at -2.8 point to oversold conditions, with sellers dominating. Arista gapped down at the open by approximately $7.45 (3.81%) and is down $12.93 or 6.62% to $182.49, near its intraday low, with intraday volatility of 4.37%. This confirms that sellers have controlled the session, even as multiple momentum signals indicate possible seller exhaustion.

Earlier, analysts noted that Arista Networks was under sustained selling pressure, with negative momentum and technical weakness persisting despite fundamentally strong results. The current article builds on this outlook, as continued downside volatility and oversold signals suggest traders should closely monitor the $180.76 support level for signs of further deterioration or a potential reversal.
