Blockchain infrastructure, zero-knowledge cryptography, and emerging technologies by Wei Dai
Wei Dai is a foundational figure in the digital currency movement, best known for proposing b-money in 1998, a concept cited in Satoshi Nakamoto’s Bitcoin whitepaper. Dai is the author of Crypto++, a cryptographic C++ library used in numerous blockchain and cybersecurity applications. With decades of experience in applied cryptography, Dai has recently emerged as a Research Partner at 1kx, where he advises on zero-knowledge cryptography, decentralized protocol design, and modular blockchain infrastructure.
Projects Dai supports include Risc Zero and Anoma, both of which push the boundaries of privacy-preserving computation. He previously worked with Bain Capital Crypto and is co-author of the VMAC algorithm, a high-speed message authentication scheme. His blog and public notes continue to influence the design of cryptographic protocols. Dai remains one of the most technically credible and forward-looking figures in crypto infrastructure, bridging early cypherpunk principles with contemporary zero-knowledge and privacy tech. His cryptographic contributions have been cited over 2,000 times in academic literature.
