Bobby Ong is the newly appointed CEO and co-founder of CoinGecko, one of the world’s largest independent crypto data aggregators. Since its launch in 2014, CoinGecko has grown into a foundational tool for traders, analysts, and institutions, tracking over 10,000 digital assets and 700 exchanges. Under Ong’s leadership, the platform’s API processed more than 677 billion data requests in the past year alone, serving users ranging from decentralized finance platforms to government analytics teams. Ong holds a BSc in Economics from University College London and has contributed to multiple academic publications on digital finance, including chapters in the Handbook of Digital Currency and Handbook of Blockchain, Digital Finance, and Inclusion.
In 2023, he led the rollout of CoinGecko’s “Trust Score,” a market transparency metric now used in over 30,000 technical dashboards globally. Ong has spoken at major fintech events across Asia and North America, regularly advocating for data integrity, permissionless finance, and stablecoin audit frameworks. With user engagement surging and industry reliance on CoinGecko’s tools at an all-time high, Ong’s analytical role in shaping crypto transparency is unmatched in the Southeast Asian region.
