Vantage Markets review: Broker limits CRO/USD and OKB/USD trading due to upcoming ticker change
Vantage Markets has announced a temporary trading adjustment affecting two cryptocurrency perpetual contracts, advising clients that CRO/USD.bc and OKB/USD.bc will be placed in Close-Only mode across all servers starting Dec. 16, 2025. The broker said the move is linked to an anticipated ticker change and will remain in effect until further notice.
The update means traders will no longer be able to open new positions in the affected instruments on Vantage’s Perpetual accounts, though they will retain the ability to close existing positions. Such measures are commonly implemented ahead of technical changes to ensure an orderly transition and minimize potential disruptions related to pricing, liquidity, or contract specifications.
Close-only mode and what it means for traders
According to Vantage Markets, the decision to restrict CRO/USD.bc and OKB/USD.bc to Close-Only trading is a precautionary step tied to backend adjustments associated with the expected ticker update. While the broker did not specify the exact timeline or details of the change, it emphasized that the restriction applies uniformly across all servers.
Close-Only mode prevents the initiation of new trades but allows traders to manage risk by reducing or fully closing open positions. This approach is designed to protect clients from unexpected volatility or technical inconsistencies that can arise during symbol transitions, particularly in crypto-linked derivative products.
Vantage advised clients holding positions in the affected contracts to monitor their exposure carefully and plan accordingly while the restriction is in place.
Broader context and platform reliability
Vantage Markets operates as a multi-asset broker offering access to forex, indices, commodities, shares, and cryptocurrencies through its trading platforms. The firm positions operational transparency and platform stability as core elements of its service, particularly during periods of technical change.
Ticker updates and contract adjustments are not uncommon in crypto derivatives markets, where underlying assets, exchanges, or data feeds may evolve. By preemptively limiting trading activity, brokers aim to reduce execution risks and maintain consistent trading conditions.
Vantage said it will continue to inform clients of any further developments and lift the Close-Only restriction once the ticker change is completed and normal trading conditions can be restored.
