Questrade review: Broker unveils one-month free options trading
Brokerage firm Questrade is offering eligible traders one month of commission-free options trading. The promotion runs from June 4 to December 31, 2025, and allows new users who transfer at least 25,000 Canadian dollars into a qualifying account to receive a full rebate of all commissions paid for online options trading during their first 30 days.

The offer comes amid continued growth in retail options-market activity across North America, where platforms are competing to lower entry barriers. Questrade’s initiative combines zero-commission trading with free access to 30 days of real-time streaming options data through a complimentary Questrade Plus trial.
How the offer works
To qualify, new clients must open their first self-directed Questrade account—excluding FX & CFD accounts—and enter the code FREEOPTIONS during signup. Eligible accounts include RRSPs, TFSAs, cash, and margin accounts.
Clients then have 30 days to complete an Eligible Transfer-In of at least CA$25,000, either in cash or in-kind. Once the transfer is received, the 30-day commission-free period begins.
Questrade will rebate all online options-trading commissions accumulated during that window, converting U.S.-denominated fees into Canadian dollars at the prevailing rate when the rebate is issued. The reimbursement is deposited into the client’s account the month after a mandatory 180-day hold period, during which the account balance must remain above CA$25,000 unless fluctuations are market-driven.
Assisted trades and non-commission fees are excluded from the rebate.

The offer underscores Questrade’s broader strategy of appealing to active traders seeking lower-cost access to options markets. With no platform fees for basic trading and access to advanced tools through Questrade Plus, the company continues to position itself as a cost-efficient alternative to Canada’s incumbent brokerages.
New clients who meet the transfer threshold also stand to benefit from Questrade’s long-standing “transfer your account for free” program, allowing incoming transfer fees from other institutions to be reimbursed.
