Anthropic files for IPO, plans Nasdaq listing
Anthropic to become a public company

U.S.-based Anthropic, the developer of the Claude AI model, has officially begun preparations for an initial public offering (IPO). The company plans to list its shares on the Nasdaq under the ticker symbol ANT.

According to documents published by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Anthropic has disclosed details of its planned IPO. The company previously submitted a confidential filing in June 2026, allowing regulators to review its financial information before making it public.

Anthropic was founded in 2021 by Dario Amodei and a group of researchers who left OpenAI. In just five years, it has become one of the leading developers of generative artificial intelligence, with OpenAI remaining its main competitor.

Anthropic's business growth accelerated in 2026, driven by the popularity of its AI coding tool Claude Code and the release of new models, including Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5. Corporate clients have been particularly active in adopting the company's technology to automate workflows and develop software.

IPO comes amid investor concerns over AI spending

Anthropic's stock market debut could take place just months after SpaceX's historic IPO. Elon Musk's company listed its shares on the Nasdaq in June 2026, raising $85.7 billion and setting a record for the largest initial public offering in history.

However, stock market conditions have deteriorated since then. Investors are increasingly questioning whether revenue from artificial intelligence will justify the trillions of dollars being invested in data centers and computing infrastructure.

Companies providing cloud computing capacity for AI have faced particularly strong pressure. Shares of CoreWeave and Nebius lost more than 30% of their value in October amid rising credit risks and concerns about the returns on massive infrastructure investments.

The challenging market environment could also affect Anthropic's upcoming listing. Despite rapid business growth and strong interest in its technology, investors will need to assess the company's profitability prospects and future AI development costs.

According to the Financial Times, market participants are discussing a potential valuation for Anthropic of between $1.5 trillion and $1.75 trillion. However, the final IPO terms, including the share price and amount of capital to be raised, have not yet been determined.

Why has Claude become so popular?

One of the main reasons behind Claude's popularity is its strong adoption among software developers. Claude Code can do more than generate code: it can independently handle complex tasks, including analyzing projects, identifying bugs, editing files, and testing applications. According to a JetBrains survey conducted between May and July 2026, 39% of professional developers used Claude Code at work, up from 18% in January. This put it ahead of GitHub Copilot and other competing tools.

Another major factor has been Claude's growing adoption in the enterprise sector. Companies use Anthropic's models to analyze documents, automate workflows, and build their own AI services. Demand for Claude Code is also translating into substantial revenue. By February 2026, its annualized revenue run rate had exceeded $2.5 billion, more than doubling since the beginning of the year. This rapid growth has helped Anthropic strengthen its position in the enterprise AI market and attract the attention of major investors.

As a reminder, enthusiasm surrounding Anthropic's upcoming IPO has recently begun to fade.
