Natural gas remains under pressure despite persistent heat across large parts of the United States. Traders continue to focus on comfortable storage levels and robust domestic production, which have offset stronger power-sector demand from air conditioning.

The latest EIA storage report is expected to show another inventory build of roughly 44 Bcf, marking the smallest injection since late March but still leaving inventories comfortably above the five-year average.
LNG maintenance limits near-term demand
Another factor weighing on sentiment is reduced LNG feedgas demand as maintenance continues at the Freeport LNG export terminal. With part of the export capacity temporarily unavailable, more gas remains within the domestic market, limiting the impact of seasonal demand. At the same time, the EIA continues to project record U.S. natural gas production in 2026, reinforcing expectations that inventories will remain above historical norms through much of the injection season.
Technical rebound lacks bullish confirmation
The chart shows Natural Gas attempting to stabilize after a sharp selloff pushed prices below the psychologically important $3.00 level. The recent rebound has been modest, with prices consolidating around $2.88 while remaining below the short, medium, and long-term moving averages. This alignment suggests that sellers continue to control the broader trend, even though downside momentum has eased compared with last week's decline.
A recovery above the nearest resistance would be required to improve the short-term technical outlook. Until that happens, rallies are likely to face selling pressure, while the area around the recent lows remains the key support that traders will monitor for signs of either stabilization or another leg lower.
At this stage, the risks of a break below support near the $2.80 level and a decline toward the $2.75 to $2.70 area remain elevated. However, as I noted in the article Natural gas stabilizes after selloff as storage surplus limits recovery, any further weakness could attract renewed buying interest.
