Highlights

  • XPT/USD trades below major moving averages across all timeframes, indicating ongoing downward pressure on price action.
  • Momentum signals are mixed, with oscillators showing indecision as MACD and AO align with an intraday upward move.
  • Expected trading range over the next 2 to 3 days is $1,784 to $1,840, with 52% probability of an upward move.

Mixed oscillator signals as technical support and momentum diverge

On the technical side, XPT/USD trades below the SMA-20 and SMA-50 on the H1 chart, as well as beneath the SMA-200 on the daily timeframe. The Ichimoku Kijun on the daily chart is set at $1,804 and marks a key support area. Across momentum indicators, the picture remains mixed: MACD and the Awesome Oscillator suggest some upside, while ADX is neutral, RSI leans slightly bearish near 50, and both CCI and Stoch RSI remain neutral. Notably, Bull/Bear Power reveals that buyers currently hold the intraday advantage, though this reading is overbought. The divergence between oscillators and trend momentum underscores current market indecision.

Short-term consolidation favored amid elevated breakout risks

Looking ahead to the next 2–3 trading days, XPT/USD is expected to remain within a volatile range of $1,784 to $1,840, consistent with typical movement at current levels. The probability for an upward move is slightly higher at 52%, with a 48% chance of a reversal lower. The base scenario projects consolidation within this corridor; a decisive breakout above resistance would set the stage for further gains, while a break below immediate support could open the door to additional downside.

Viktoras Karapetjanc, expert at Traders Union, sees platinum consolidating in a tight range as technicals reflect indecision and macro sentiment offers no new catalysts. He notes that buyers hold a slight intraday advantage, but overall momentum remains muted below all key moving averages. Karapetjanc believes that absent fresh macro news, volatility will likely persist inside the $1,784 to $1,840 corridor. "If platinum manages to break above $1,840, the setup for further gains will improve, but until then, consolidation is still the base case," he concludes.

Earlier, analysts noted that platinum was trading within a bearish structure despite signs of mixed momentum. The current analysis reinforces this view, highlighting ongoing technical indecision and advising traders to monitor potential breakouts from the $1,784 to $1,840 range for directional cues in the days ahead.
