  • Momentum signals are negative and confirm seller dominance, with multiple oscillators indicating the market is oversold.

Bearish momentum persists as technical indicators register weakness

On the H1 chart, SB is currently trading below the MA-20 at USX19.44 and MA-50 at USX19.39, while on the daily timeframe, it stays above the long-term MA-200 at USX15.75. The Ichimoku Kijun level at USX19.5 is acting as immediate resistance. Momentum indicators are weak, with both MACD and RSI (42.52) suggesting selling pressure. ADX points to a neutral trend, while Stoch RSI and CCI are both in oversold territory, highlighting a potential for a short-term rebound. However, Bull/Bear Power continues to reflect intraday seller dominance, and the Awesome Oscillator remains neutral, providing little additional clarity.

Downside risk dominates near-term range amid resistance overhang

Looking ahead, SB is expected to trade within a range of USX19.05 to USX19.49 over the next couple of sessions. The probability of a further decline is very high given current momentum and overhang from technical resistance. A bullish breakout would require a firm move above the USX19.5 level, while a break below USX19.05 would open the door to another leg lower. For now, price action is likely to stay constrained within the stated volatility band.

Anton Kharitonov, expert at Traders Union, notes that sugar is under persistent selling pressure, with technical momentum firmly on the downside. He sees resistance capping price below USX19.5, while weak indicators suggest more downside risk. Support near USX19.05 is critical in the very short term. "Unless USX19.5 is reclaimed, I expect further weakness to dominate sugar prices," the analyst concludes.

Earlier, analysts noted that sugar had been showing bullish momentum, supported by its position above key moving averages and a strong probability of continued consolidation. The latest technical developments now introduce a more cautious tone, with traders advised to monitor the USX19.5 resistance level for any sign of a shift back to upside potential.
