Accuray presents new findings suggesting that uniform PTV margins may not always ensure adequate coverage in nasopharyngeal carcinoma treatment.

The research shows that daily MVCT with deformable dose accumulation reveals a potential for higher OAR (organs at risk) dose when standard margins are used. By utilizing individualized, dose-driven margins—often between 1 and 2 mm—control is preserved while reducing risk to critical structures. These insights could inform future protocols for more precise and patient-specific radiotherapy in head and neck cancer care.
