Accuray study links helical TomoTherapy to significantly lower xerostomia in advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma
TomoTherapy reduces xerostomia risk

A recent large-scale propensity score–matched clinical study from Accuray finds that patients with locally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma undergoing helical TomoTherapy experience significantly less xerostomia compared to those treated with VMAT.

The study attributes this benefit to more effective parotid gland sparing achieved with helical TomoTherapy. The latest findings are expected to shape future approaches in radiation oncology for head and neck cancer management.
