908 Devices launches XplorIR device for real time identification of over 5,600 gases in under 20 seconds
908 Devices has unveiled the XplorIR, a new tool that enables hazmat and fire teams to identify more than 5,600 gases and vapors in less than 20 seconds on site.
The device requires no sample preparation and functions while the operator is in full PPE, streamlining emergency response efforts. The company is offering live demonstrations to showcase the technology’s capabilities for hazardous material incidents. Details on its broad adoption and performance in field conditions are yet to be disclosed.
Earlier this year, 908 Devices launched the XplorIR for real-time gas identification during hazmat emergencies. The company also introduced the VipIR device to help border agents rapidly identify drugs, explosives, and toxic chemicals. Both devices target front-line personnel managing hazardous materials.
