Sunrun Inc. has joined forces with Renew Home and Tesla to assemble one of the largest distributed energy resources in the United States.

The partnership aims to leverage a combined 16.8 gigawatts of fast, flexible energy capacity installed in millions of homes across the country. This collaboration signals a strategic move to utilize existing residential energy infrastructure and highlights the growing importance of distributed energy networks in stabilizing and modernizing the power grid.

Sunrun has previously warned that accelerating AI data center growth is straining the U.S. energy grid and raising household energy bills, according to a recent statement. The company also reported that more than 33,000 customers in Puerto Rico directly support grid stability with solar and battery systems, as detailed in an earlier announcement. These developments highlight Sunrun's focus on leveraging distributed energy resources for grid management.
