Sunrun Inc. unveils battery partnership

Sunrun Inc. is launching a 16.8 gigawatt distributed power plant by partnering with Renew Home and Tesla, aiming to create the largest network of home batteries and smart devices in the U.S.

CEO Mary Powell appeared on Fox Business to outline how the collaboration is designed to help meet surging national energy demand. The initiative will leverage residential battery storage and connected technology to strengthen grid reliability and add a flexible power resource for the country.

Sunrun has previously warned that rapid AI data center growth is pressuring the U.S. power grid and affecting household bills, according to a recent statement. The company has also reported that over 33,000 customers in Puerto Rico are supporting grid stability with solar and battery systems, as detailed in a separate announcement. The expansion comes as Sunrun seeks to address rising national energy demand with new technology partnerships.
