U.S. uranium mining volume in 2023 surpasses 2024 by over two times, Ur-Energy Inc states
U.S. uranium output hits nine year high

U.S. uranium production from mining activity in 2023 more than doubled the volume seen so far in 2024 and reached its highest level in nine years, according to the latest annual data released by the Energy Information Administration.

The report signals a significant surge in uranium mining momentum last year but suggests a steep decline in output this year. Ur-Energy Inc, a leading player in the U.S. uranium sector, shared the figures as the industry faces market fluctuations and heightened interest in nuclear fuel security.

Ur-Energy Inc previously observed strong growth in the U.S. nuclear industry one year after executive orders aimed at energy independence, according to company statements. The Department of Energy has also launched a loan program to support the American nuclear supply chain, with Ur-Energy Inc sharing details of the initiative in a separate report last year. These developments follow increasing attention to nuclear fuel security in the sector.
