Italy speeds Energy Vault timeline

Italy's Council of Ministers has designated Energy Vault Digital Vault Sulcis as a program of pre-eminent national strategic interest.

This official recognition is set to expedite the remaining administrative approvals for the energy storage project, significantly reducing the time required to bring the initial approximately 30 megawatt capacity online. The move highlights the Italian government's focus on advancing strategic infrastructure to support the country's energy transition. Energy Vault's Digital Vault Sulcis is positioned as a key initiative in the national effort to enhance grid reliability and renewable integration.

Energy Vault recently brought its 200MW 400MWh battery project in New England closer to full operation, advancing support for renewable energy growth as reported here. In a separate development, the company secured a major contract to deliver 1.25 GW of power infrastructure for a hyperscaler AI data center, partnering with EPC and Caterpillar gensets here. These initiatives demonstrate Energy Vault's continued expansion in large-scale energy storage and infrastructure projects.
