Lifezone recovers 99 percent platinum

Lifezone Metals announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, Simulus Laboratories, has recovered up to 99 percent of platinum and palladium, and 95 percent rhodium, from a one-tonne sample of automotive catalytic converter material sourced in the U.S. This marks the first time Lifezone Metals has produced refined platinum group metals from spent automotive catalysts using its proprietary Hydromet process.

The testwork underlines the potential for extracting critical metals from used automotive components, a development that could enhance recycling efficiency and raw material security in the industry.

Lifezone Metals has previously taken part in key industry discussions, joining U.S. and Burundi teams in Bujumbura to advance Burundi's critical minerals sector. The company also attended a U.S. Burundi delegation event on critical minerals in the region. These engagements reflect Lifezone Metals' active role in critical materials supply initiatives.
