Ouster launches Rev8 sensor

Ouster has introduced its Rev8 sensor, which captures color using 116 dB of hardware dynamic range. This capability enables the device to maintain details in both the brightest and darkest parts of a scene when exposed to challenging lighting conditions, such as shooting directly into the sun.

The increased dynamic range in the Rev8 sensor is designed to address detail loss issues seen with single-exposure cameras, enhancing performance for applications requiring high-fidelity color and contrast.

The company previously launched the Rev8 OS1 Max lidar, targeting U.S. infrastructure and defense mapping in response to domestic sourcing regulations. Ouster has also delivered a Stereolabs unified driver, extending Nvidia JetPack 7.2 support to ZED X GMSL cameras and AVerMedia boards. These developments reflect ongoing efforts to expand its product range for both regulatory and technical requirements.
