Cloud security surges in PH

Philippine organizations are expected to increase their use of cloud-based security tools in 2027 as artificial intelligence makes cyber threats harder to detect and block. The shift reflects broader pressure on companies to strengthen defenses against fast-moving phishing, malicious websites and data leakage risks tied to AI use.

Highlights

  • iboss projects increased Philippine adoption of cloud-based security in 2027 as AI-driven cyberattacks outpace detection capabilities of legacy systems.
  • Google Cloud’s Mandiant September 2026 report cites rising use of AI by cyberattackers for automated reconnaissance, identifying vulnerabilities, and stealing credentials, intensifying demand for advanced security controls.
  • iboss reports its client base in the Philippines now exceeds 20 organizations, with demand concentrated in regulated sectors such as banking, hospitality, casinos, and government.

AI-driven risks reshape security demand

As reported by BusinessWorld Online, U.S.-based cloud security provider iboss expects wider adoption of cloud-based security solutions in the Philippines in 2027 as AI-driven attacks become more complex for traditional systems to detect and prevent.

Joseph Angelo Tadaya, senior sales manager for Asia Pacific at iboss, said during the VST ECS CXO Tech Summit 2026 in Boracay that attackers can use AI to create new websites and applications more quickly, giving them more channels to distribute phishing links and malicious content. He said this creates a challenge for legacy tools that depend on databases of known websites and applications to flag threats.

A September 2026 report by Google Cloud's Mandiant said cyberattackers are increasingly using AI to automate reconnaissance, identify vulnerabilities and steal credentials. That trend is increasing the need for stronger security controls as security teams face a growing volume of threats that may not yet appear in existing databases.

iboss said it uses AI-powered engines to inspect network traffic and identify malicious content, including threats linked to newly created websites and applications, before users can reach them. The platform also monitors employee use of AI tools to help prevent sensitive company information, such as employee records, from being uploaded to external systems.

Philippine market expansion targets regulated sectors

Some Philippine organizations still remain cautious about shifting to cloud-based cybersecurity because they continue to rely on traditional systems such as on-premises firewalls and proxy servers. Even so, iboss said openness to cloud-based security has increased over the past year, supporting its view of stronger demand in 2027.

Founded in the U.S. in 2003, iboss entered the Philippine market in 2021. Its platform combines network and security functions including zero trust network access, cloud access security broker, data loss prevention, malware defense, threat intelligence and secure web gateway.

The company's Philippine client base is concentrated in banking, hospitality, casinos and government, especially among organizations with data protection and data sovereignty requirements. Tadaya said iboss now serves more than 20 organizations in the country, including large companies and medium-sized enterprises.
