DigiPlus targets localized game expansion in the Philippines
DigiPlus boosts local games

DigiPlus Interactive Corp. is ramping up its pipeline of locally themed digital content as it leans further into Filipino stories, folklore and entertainment properties. The company says it is aiming for about 60 localized game releases in 2027, up from more than 30 expected this year.

Highlights

  • DigiPlus plans to launch around 60 localized games in 2027, nearly doubling from over 30 expected releases in 2024, focusing on Philippine mythology and franchises.
  • Slot games comprise about 80% of DigiPlus' current development effort due to strong demand, though the company aims to diversify its portfolio into broader gaming formats.
  • Partnership with Regal Entertainment brought five Shake, Rattle & Roll digital titles to BingoPlus on Oct. 22, with additional rollouts planned for ArenaPlus and GameZone.

2027 release pipeline and content strategy

As reported by BusinessWorld Online, DigiPlus is targeting roughly 60 localized game launches in 2027, nearly doubling its expected output for this year as it builds more titles around Philippine mythology, history and popular entertainment franchises.

Ray De Guzman, head of localization at DigiPlus, said the company expects to release more than 30 localized games this year. He said DigiPlus has secured two more intellectual properties for game development next year, with tentative releases planned for the first and second quarters.

One of those games is already with a supplier and in development, while the company is also working on awarding more suppliers. De Guzman said localized titles are created by adapting elements of Philippine folklore, mythology and history into gameplay features, citing the manananggal as an example of how local characters can be translated into game mechanics.

Portfolio diversification and digital gaming impact

DigiPlus is expanding its localized content push while keeping slot games at the center of its development strategy. De Guzman said slots account for about 80% of the company’s development efforts for now because of strong community interest and high demand, although the company plans to widen its portfolio into other game formats.

The broader push follows DigiPlus’ partnership with Regal Entertainment to turn the Shake, Rattle & Roll horror franchise into five digital games, Manananggal, Reyna Ahas, Triple Terror, LRT Monster and Aswang. The titles became available on BingoPlus on Oct. 22, with rollouts on ArenaPlus and GameZone planned later.

In a separate statement, DigiPlus Chairman Eusebio H. Tanco said the tie-up combines Regal Entertainment’s creative legacy with DigiPlus’ digital capabilities and local market insight. He said the partnership creates opportunities to bring established Filipino entertainment into the digital space, strengthen the company’s content portfolio and deliver greater value to audiences.

Our earlier article on DigiPlus’ localized game development push outlined how the company has been adapting Philippine folklore and pop-culture themes into slot-led digital titles to deepen engagement in its home market. We noted that this strategy leans on partnerships and recognizable IP to broaden its content pipeline while keeping high-demand formats at the core of production.
