Dongshan's $1.3B Hong Kong debut

Hong Kong's equity market has drawn one of its largest recent offerings as artificial intelligence-related suppliers navigate volatile investor sentiment. Suzhou Dongshan Precision Manufacturing Co. raises about HK$9.9 billion in the city's biggest listing in nearly two months, with trading expected to begin on Oct. 28.

Highlights

  • Dongshan Precision raises $1.3 billion by pricing 113.8 million shares at HK$86.80 each in its Hong Kong listing, below the HK$93.80 maximum.
  • The offer price represents a 35% discount to Dongshan's Shenzhen-listed shares as of Friday, despite the stock being up 35% year-to-date.
  • Dongshan's Hong Kong trading begins Oct. 28 amid volatility for AI-linked stocks, highlighting strong investor interest and significant pricing pressure.

Listing terms and trading timeline

As reported by Bloomberg News, Dongshan prices about 113.8 million shares at HK$86.80 each, below the maximum offer price of HK$93.80, according to a filing to Hong Kong's stock exchange on Sunday that confirms the earlier report.

The printed circuit board maker says it does not exercise an upsize option. The company is expected to start trading on Oct. 28.

Valuation discount and market backdrop

The offer price implies a discount of about 35% to the Friday close of Dongshan's Shenzhen-listed stock. Even so, the mainland-listed shares are still up 35% this year after falling nearly 60% from a June peak.

The deal lands in a volatile market for companies tied to the artificial intelligence buildout, underscoring both investor demand for sector-linked names and the pricing pressure issuers face in Hong Kong.

Our earlier coverage of the AI-linked tech selloff explained how hotter inflation data revived rate-hike expectations and triggered sharp declines in major U.S. tech benchmarks. We noted that investors were reassessing the rising cost of financing large-scale AI infrastructure, pressuring chipmakers, cloud players and other AI-exposed names as bond yields climbed.
