Nonprofit organization Sovright has launched Argos, a recovery tool designed to help users regain access to funds that became inaccessible after support for ZEC Wallet Lite ended in 2022. The solution is intended to resolve one of the longest-standing issues in the Zcash ecosystem.
According to Sovright Executive Chair Michelle Lai, Argos enables users who still have their ZEC Wallet Lite seed phrases to recover their funds.
The organization did not disclose the number of affected addresses, noting that the issue impacted only a subset of shielded addresses. However, Sovright said the amount of inaccessible funds was significant and primarily impacted early Zcash users.
The organization said the launch of Argos is part of a broader initiative to address long-standing technical difficulties that have inconvenienced users and gradually eroded confidence in the ecosystem.
The organization said it plans to focus on resolving long-standing infrastructure challenges while continuing to develop tools that make Zcash easier for the community to use.
Earlier in 2026, a dispute emerged between Bootstrap's leadership and ECC employees over the project's future direction.
The entire ECC team subsequently left the organization and formed the commercial entity Zcash Open Development Lab (ZODL). ZODL continued development of the ecosystem's core products, including the Zodl wallet, an updated version of the previously released Zashi.
Sovright, meanwhile, shifted its focus to community support, infrastructure development, and resolving long-standing technical issues. The organization added that it maintains a positive relationship with the ZODL team and views it as an important contributor to the future development of the Zcash ecosystem.
Earlier, Fortitude, a Zcash mining company, announced plans to go public on the Nasdaq through a merger with HeartSciences, a deal intended to expand its access to public capital markets and support future growth.
