Midterm hub combines pricing, polling and campaign data
As reported by CoinDesk, citing Kalshi in a press release, the new U.S. Midterms Hub shows real-time market odds for individual Senate and House contests ahead of the November elections. The platform says the product is designed to give users a live view of where traders are willing to place bets at any given time. The hub combines betting prices with polling averages, Federal Election Commission fundraising reports for individual candidates, and curated news and analysis. Kalshi says the information is displayed across a U.S. map to provide a broader snapshot of how each race is shaping up.
The company describes the product as a single destination for state and federal election forecasting, allowing users to compare prediction market pricing with voter survey trends. The rollout marks Kalshi's latest step to deepen its presence in political event trading before the midterms.
Expansion drive gains pace beyond election markets
Kalshi is introducing the new elections product while also pursuing broader growth across its trading business. Reports this week say the company is seeking regulatory approval from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission to expand perpetual futures trading beyond crypto, including contracts tied to gold, silver and platinum. The company has also been building out political-focused products in recent months. In May, it introduced the American Power Index, which it described as an "S&P 500" for politics to track which party is gaining or losing strength.
Trading activity on the platform has accelerated sharply. Kalshi tells CoinDesk that total notional trading volume reaches $31 billion in June, up more than 70% from May, with sports contracts accounting for about 85% of activity and World Cup-specific volume totaling $22.42 billion.
The Midterms Hub launch also comes about a month after reports said Kalshi was seeking fresh capital at a valuation of roughly $40 billion. That would be nearly double the $22 billion valuation targeted in its previous funding round.
