Ethereum price awaits breakout as volatility drops to 2%
Ethereum continues to show signs of institutional accumulation, but the price remains in consolidation between $1,850 and $1,950. The decline in 30-day volatility increases the probability of a sharp breakout from the range.
Interest from large market participants remains strong. According to Arkham, an Ethereum whale accumulated 66,345 ETH worth approximately $116.62 million over the past month. The average purchase price was $1,758, meaning the position is already profitable.
Institutional flows have also returned to positive territory. On 30 July, US spot Ethereum ETFs recorded net inflows of $13.3 million, reversing the previous day’s outflows. However, the inflow remains relatively modest and is not yet sufficient to push ETH out of consolidation on its own.

Tightening range puts $1,850 support in focus
Ethereum continues to trade near $1,900 within the previously identified narrow range of $1,850–1,950. As long as the price remains below the upper boundary, the risk of a deeper correction persists. The key support level is $1,850. A decisive break below this level on elevated volume would open the way first towards the psychological $1,800 level and then the 50-day SMA near $1,760.
Average daily volatility over the past 30 days stands at approximately 2%, which is relatively low for Ethereum. Historically, volatility compression of this kind has indicated an increased probability of a sharp breakout from the current range.
Accumulation phase could continue through mid-autumn
Accumulation by a large holder and positive ETF flows support the medium-term fundamental outlook, but these signals have not yet been confirmed by a technical breakout. If support at $1,760 holds, the period of consolidation and gradual accumulation could continue into mid-autumn. However, low volatility is unlikely to persist indefinitely: a break below $1,850 or above $1,950 could trigger a strong directional move much sooner.
