Figure expands blockchain lending with Kiavi acquisition
Figure Technology Solutions has completed its acquisition of mortgage technology company Kiavi, adding a major residential lending platform to its blockchain-based capital marketplace. The deal gives Figure a broader foothold in property finance as it seeks to connect loan origination, funding, and secondary-market activity through its infrastructure.
Highlights
- Figure has completed its acquisition of Kiavi.
- The integration covers more than 480 ecosystem partners.
- Sixth Street purchased loans from Kiavi's balance sheet.
- Kiavi lending technology will join Figure Connect.
Under the transaction announced in June, Figure acquired Kiavi technology, operating platform, and certain other assets, according to a press release. The deal also includes a joint venture with investment firm Sixth Street, which purchased loans previously held on Kiavi's balance sheet.
Kiavi technology moves into the Figure network
Figure plans to integrate the Kiavi brand, platform, and technology across a network of more than 480 active ecosystem partners. The combination will bring Kiavi's residential transition loan and debt-service coverage ratio lending technology to Figure Connect, the company's blockchain-native marketplace.
Kiavi specializes in financing for residential real estate investors, including loans used to purchase, renovate, and operate properties. Integrating those products gives Figure another source of loan origination for a marketplace already designed to support the funding, sale, and trading of tokenized assets.
The transaction also brings Kiavi leadership into Figure. Kiavi CEO Arvind Mohan will become Figure's chief business officer and oversee the expansion of the platform across the wider network.
Figure expands its lending infrastructure
The acquisition broadens Figure's reach across residential finance while connecting Kiavi lending operations with blockchain-based capital-market infrastructure.
Figure has identified the roughly $35 trillion U.S. home equity market as an important opportunity. Bringing Kiavi technology into its network could give lenders and capital providers additional ways to originate and distribute residential credit while reducing reliance on separate systems for different stages of a loan lifecycle.
The company has not yet incorporated Kiavi's expected contribution into its previously issued third-quarter Consumer Loan Marketplace guidance. Figure plans to update its outlook when it reports third-quarter 2026 results and reconcile the revised forecast with its earlier guidance.
A larger test for blockchain-based lending
The acquisition matters because it moves blockchain infrastructure closer to established residential lending rather than limiting its use to crypto-native assets. The figure is combining a functioning loan-origination business with a marketplace intended to connect lenders, investors, and other financial institutions.
Scale will be central to that strategy. Figure can now distribute Kiavi technology across more than 480 ecosystem partners while targeting a home equity market valued at about $35 trillion.
The next indication of the financial impact will come with Figure's third-quarter results, when investors are expected to receive updated guidance incorporating Kiavi. That update should provide the first clearer measure of how much the acquisition can contribute to Figure marketplace activity.
