Circle has launched the mainnet of its Layer 1 blockchain Arc with more than 100 applications and institutional participants. At the same time, the company created an initial supply of 10 billion ARC tokens, although a decision on a public token launch has yet to be made.
Aave, Morpho and Uniswap are available on Arc from day one. Network validators include BlackRock, DTCC, ICE, Mastercard and Visa, which will join the network in phases.

Arc's public testnet launched in October 2025 and has since processed more than 700 million transactions. On mainnet, fees are paid in USDC, while transaction finality takes less than a second.
Arc is compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine, allowing developers to deploy existing Solidity smart contracts on the network. Circle said more than 100 institutional companies and ecosystem participants are working with the blockchain.
The initial group includes 11 validators, among them BlackRock, DTCC, ICE, Mastercard and Visa. ICE Vice President of Strategic Initiatives Michael Blaugrund said Arc's predictable fees and fast transaction finality are designed to address issues raised by institutional clients when using blockchain networks.
Circle and DTCC also plan to begin tokenizing DTC-custodied assets directly on Arc in the second half of 2027. Circle's payments infrastructure and StableFX service for round-the-clock currency trading and settlement are also integrated into the network.
StableFX supports USDC, EURC, GBPA, JPYC and KRW1, among other stablecoins. BlackRock's BUIDL and Circle's USYC tokenized funds can be used for trading, lending and as collateral.
Circle minted the entire initial supply of 10 billion ARC tokens in the U.S. this week. The company stressed that the move represents a technical milestone in the network's development rather than confirmation of a future public token launch.
ARC is intended to support network security, governance and coordination, while fees will continue to be paid in USDC. Circle is considering moving Arc from Proof-of-Authority to Proof-of-Stake in 2027, but no final decision has been made on the public distribution of ARC.
Meanwhile, payments startup Velocity raised another $10 million from investors including Visa, Circle and Ripple. The latest investment brought the company's total Series A funding to $48 million.
The participation of several major payments and crypto companies reflects growing interest in stablecoin infrastructure. Velocity is developing solutions for the sector as digital dollars gain wider use in payments and settlements.
Earlier, we reported that Circle introduced Circle Skills for building applications powered by stablecoins. The tool is designed to simplify the development of products using the company's payments infrastructure.
