Filing outlines Bitcoin purchase and buyback activity

According to Cointelegraph, as disclosed in a Form 8-K filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Strategy acquires 950 Bitcoin between Monday and Sunday at an average price of $79,670 per coin. The purchase lifts its total holdings to 846,000 BTC, acquired for about $63.8 billion at an average cost of $75,416 per Bitcoin, including fees and expenses.

At the publication-time Bitcoin price of $84,925, the company is sitting on an unrealized gain of about $8.05 billion on those holdings. Strategy also says it makes no sales under its at-the-market offering programs between Sept. 14 and Sept. 20, indicating it does not raise funds through those channels during the period.

Alongside the Bitcoin purchase, the company continues repurchasing its perpetual preferred stock STRC. It buys back about 1.77 million shares for $174 million during the same week, while saying it still has $875.1 million available under its preferred-stock repurchase program and $1 billion remaining under its MSTR share repurchase program.

Cash position and market response

Strategy says its deployable USD Cash balance falls nearly 20% to $1.05 billion from $1.30 billion a week earlier. Its separate USD Reserve declines to $5.04 billion from $5.10 billion after the company uses $57.4 million to pay preferred-stock dividends and interest on outstanding debt.

The company says USD Cash is used for broader treasury purposes, including Bitcoin purchases and capital management, while USD Reserve is primarily intended to support preferred-stock dividends and debt interest. The latest moves come as Strategy balances continued Bitcoin accumulation with managing a growing stack of preferred securities and multi-billion-dollar liquidity reserves.

Shares of Strategy rise 7.4% to $165.2 in pre-market trading on Monday, according to Yahoo Finance data, while STRC gains 0.35% to $98.85. Strive, identified in the report as the world’s fifth-largest corporate Bitcoin holder, also announces a Bitcoin purchase on Monday, adding 1,355 BTC last week to bring its total to 26,355 coins, and its shares rise 6.44% to $32.03.
