Stripe adds Samsung Pay option for crypto purchases on Android
Stripe has expanded the payment options available through its Crypto Onramp, adding Samsung Pay support for Android applications built with React Native. The change gives developers another way to let users buy digital assets with fiat currency without leaving a third-party app.

- Android users gain another option for crypto purchases.
- Stripe continues expanding its crypto payment infrastructure.
Stripe has integrated Samsung Pay into its Crypto Onramp for React Native apps on Android, according to Crypto.News. Developers can now offer the mobile wallet for in-app crypto purchases, with Stripe providing the underlying payment flow and tools to determine whether Samsung Pay is available on a user's device.
Samsung Pay joins the Android onramp
Stripe Crypto Onramp provides an embedded route for converting traditional currency into cryptocurrency inside wallets, decentralized applications, and other digital services. Stripe manages the payment flow and delivers crypto settlement after a completed purchase, reducing the need for users to move to a separate exchange or payment site.
For React Native developers, the Samsung Pay integration can first check whether the wallet is available on a particular device or customer setup. Applications can then present it as a payment method and collect the transaction through Stripe.
The addition is narrower than a platform-wide Samsung Pay rollout. Stripe documents the functionality for Android, while its public Crypto Onramp product page still lists cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and ACH among its payment methods. Stripe has not disclosed information regarding fees, country availability, or transaction limits for cryptocurrency transactions via the Samsung Pay integration.
Stripe keeps building crypto payment infrastructure
Stripe has continued updating the SDK since the Samsung Pay release. Version 0.76.0, issued Sept. 1, added an option for users to remove a registered wallet address from a Link account. Version 0.77.0 followed on Sept. 16 with additional identity fields and a fix for Android Crypto Onramp presentation failures after an Activity was recreated.
The company has also broadened its crypto business beyond fiat onramps. Stripe acquired stablecoin infrastructure provider Bridge in a deal valued at roughly $1.1 billion and later expanded stablecoin financial accounts to more than 100 countries. Bridge has obtained European authorization under MiCA and is also working with Visa on stablecoin-backed payment cards.
A smaller feature in a larger payments push
Samsung Pay support is technically a modest SDK addition, but it fits Stripe’s broader effort to reduce friction between conventional payments and blockchain-based services. Giving Android developers another familiar wallet option may shorten the purchase flow for users already relying on Samsung Pay.
The timing also matters. Stripe first introduced its fiat-to-crypto onramp in 2022; four years later, the company is combining wallet payments, stablecoins, and blockchain infrastructure across a growing set of products.
