STRK slides around 10.5% as technical strength diverges from selling pressure after exploit
Starknet slides 10.4% today on exploit

Starknet (STRK) fell 10.4% after the Nostra protocol, built on the same network, suffered a $3.5 million lending exploit that led to flagged risks in multiple price feeds. The drop contradicts strong momentum signals and a positive short-, medium-, and long-term setup indicated by moving averages and technical indicators.

Protocol exploit prompts critical risk flags and privacy feature rollout

On September 17, a lending exploit on the Nostra protocol within the Starknet ecosystem allowed an attacker to borrow approximately $3.5 million after manipulating the NSTR oracle, prompting Pragma to flag six mainnet price feeds as critical risks due to valuation and liquidity mismatches. Additionally, Ekubo, the leading automated market maker by TVL on Starknet, recently enabled private swaps using the STRK20 privacy framework and a ShieldedSwapRouter. These developments reflect risk management concerns and privacy enhancements for Starknet-based platforms, though price action has remained under broader selling pressure.

Anton Kharitonov, expert at Traders Union, sees the recent 10.4% drop in STRK as a critical warning sign. He notes that the exploit on Nostra has exposed underlying fragilities, despite what technical indicators may suggest about momentum. Kharitonov is skeptical that positive signal readings offset the impact of exploited price feeds and risk flags in the Starknet ecosystem. He points out that intraday momentum diverging from daily price performance often signals deeper issues. "If systemic risks continue to be ignored, further drawdowns for STRK are very likely," he says.
Viktoras Karapetjanc, expert at Traders Union, considers the Starknet platform positioned for continued recovery despite recent volatility. He believes in the bullish structure, with moving averages and momentum indicators showing robust underlying demand. Karapetjanc sees the addition of Ekubo's privacy solutions as expanding the network’s appeal and resilience. He emphasizes the strong probability of upward movement highlighted in forecasts. "With positive fundamentals and ongoing upgrades, I expect further growth in STRK and new opportunities for investors," he states.
Sholanke Dele, market strategist, views STRK’s sharp decline as a clear loss of trader confidence. He warns that repeated security incidents and flagged risks could undermine long-term adoption of Starknet protocols. Dele highlights that volatile swings like this create uncertainty and reduce the appeal for cautious market participants. "Unless trust is restored through better risk management, I see little reason for optimism in the near term," he says.

Intraday price weakness diverges from bullish indicator signals

STRK/USD is trading above its 20-day, 50-day, and 200-day moving averages ($0.0329, $0.0282, and $0.0337), suggesting a positive setup over short, medium, and long-term horizons. Immediate support is at $0.0382 with resistance at $0.0433, and the longer-term trend context from MA-50 versus MA-200 remains bearish. Momentum indicators are signaling continued interest from buyers, with both the MACD and ADX forecasting a 'Buy' and the RSI in 'Buy' territory. The CCI flags overbought conditions, and Stochastic RSI is neutral, reflecting a mixed setup on intraday strength. Bull/Bear Power (BBP) is positive, confirming that buyers dominate intraday action, with the Awesome Oscillator (AO) also aligning with ongoing upward momentum. Today, the pair trades at $0.0388, down $0.0045 or 10.4%, opening the session with a downside gap of roughly 1.85%. The price is holding near session lows following volatile trading of 13.35%. This intraday decline contrasts with strong momentum readings, revealing a clear divergence between daily price weakness and broader trend signals.

Earlier, analysts noted that despite a sharp decline following the Nostra protocol exploit, Starknet maintained overall technical resilience with rising dilution risks. The current analysis builds on this by highlighting ongoing technical support amid heightened volatility, with traders closely monitoring the $0.0382 support for signs of a sustained reversal or further downside.
