Interactive Brokers launches Ethereum staking for clients through zerohash
U.S. brokerage Interactive Brokers (IBKR) has announced the launch of Ethereum staking for eligible clients through the zerohash platform. The new service allows users to earn rewards on their cryptocurrency holdings without moving to third-party trading platforms.
According to an October 13 press release, the feature is available to eligible Interactive Brokers LLC clients through a dedicated Staking Dashboard in the Client Portal. Users can submit requests to stake and unstake ETH and monitor the status of their transactions.
Accrued rewards are automatically added to the staked cryptocurrency and can generate additional returns. However, reward amounts depend on network conditions and are not guaranteed.
Interactive Brokers expands cryptocurrency services
Company CEO Milan Galik compared the new service to its Stock Yield Enhancement Program, which allows clients to earn additional income from shares they own.
"We want our clients to get more out of the assets they own," Galik said.
The broker also offers trading in 20 digital assets, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, XRP, Cardano, Chainlink and Avalanche. Cryptocurrency trading fees start at 0.12%–0.18% of the transaction value, with a minimum fee of $1.75 per order.
Interactive Brokers supports account funding and transfers using the USDC, RLUSD and PYUSD stablecoins. Eligible clients can also send and receive crypto assets through custodial and non-custodial wallets.
All transactions are available within a single platform alongside trading in stocks, bonds, options, futures and other financial instruments. The availability of individual features depends on the client's country of residence and the brokerage entity serving them.
Crypto companies expand regulated services
The launch of staking adds to Interactive Brokers' existing digital asset services. However, the new feature is technically operated by zerohash rather than the broker itself.
The company warns that cryptocurrency transactions carry significant risks and are suitable for investors who can withstand financial losses.
The expansion comes as regulated cryptocurrency markets continue to develop in other jurisdictions. In particular, crypto exchange Kraken has received full regulatory approval from Dubai's Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA).
The approval allows Kraken to expand its presence in the region and provide cryptocurrency services using the local currency, the UAE dirham. The decision marks another step in the exchange's expansion across the Middle East.
Earlier, we reported that Binance launched an AI-powered trading interface for English-speaking users. The new feature is designed to help users interact with the platform's trading tools.
