Chainlink expands asset pricing

Blockchain-based markets trade continuously, while many underlying traditional assets stop changing hands when exchanges close. Chainlink is launching a pricing service designed to bridge that mismatch across weekends and holidays, with Aave set to use it for tokenized U.S. stock-backed lending.

Highlights

  • Chainlink launched 24/7 pricing coverage for tokenized U.S. stocks, commodities, and other traditional assets, combining extended-hours data with perpetual futures when markets are closed.
  • Aave will deploy Chainlink's 24/7 pricing model on its Horizon institutional lending platform, enabling qualified investors to borrow against tokenized stocks without exchange closure-related pauses.
  • The update extends Chainlink's previous 24/5 pricing to weekends and holidays, improving collateral management, valuation, and risk controls for DeFi platforms operating outside standard market hours.

Weekend pricing model for tokenized markets

As announced in information shared with CoinDesk, Chainlink 24/7 extends reference pricing for stocks, commodities and other traditional assets by combining data from regular and extended trading sessions with perpetual futures quotes when traditional markets are closed.

The service is intended to give blockchain applications a continuous price series for each asset. That approach targets a longstanding gap in tokenized markets, where onchain trading continues around the clock even when the related assets trade only on fixed market schedules.

Aave is the launch partner for the service and plans to use it on Horizon, its institutional lending platform. The rollout starts with tokenized versions of heavily traded U.S. stocks and is aimed at helping qualified investors borrow against those assets without pauses tied to exchange closures.

Implications for crypto lending and market infrastructure

For decentralized finance platforms, continuous pricing can support more consistent collateral management, valuation and risk controls during weekends and holidays. The model also broadens the data available to applications that need to react to market conditions outside standard trading hours.

Chainlink previously introduced 24/5 pricing for U.S. stocks and exchange-traded funds in January 2026, covering pre-market, regular, post-market and overnight sessions. The latest expansion adds weekend and holiday coverage, allowing blockchain-based services to track real-time market signals more comprehensively for tokenized traditional assets.

In our earlier coverage of the S&P 500’s push toward 8,000, we examined how a midsummer, AI-led rally was being tested by higher oil prices, elevated Treasury yields, and political uncertainty ahead of the midterm elections. The piece also highlighted concentration risk and weakening market breadth, suggesting that even near-record index levels can mask more fragile underlying conditions that matter for equity-linked exposure and collateral risk.
