AAVE price stalled at $255 as short-term recovery loses steam
AAVE price stalls near $255 as technical structure faces resistance from EMA cluster and Fibonacci rejection

AAVE is facing renewed downside pressure, with the price currently trading around $255.10 after failing to sustain a bounce from sub-$250 levels. Price action is trapped below all major EMAs (20, 50, 100, 200), which are tightly clustered between $257 and $266, creating a significant resistance ceiling.

Highlights

- EMAs between $257–$266 now act as a strong overhead barrier

- RSI at 45 shows weak momentum, bias tilted sideways to down

- Break below $257.60 may lead to retest of $245–$248 support

The rally stalled at the 0.382 Fibonacci retracement near $265.60 and has since pulled back to test the 0.236 level at $257.60. A failure to hold above this support could expose the $245–$248 zone as the next downside target. With the RSI hovering near 45, momentum remains weak, signaling a lack of conviction from bulls.

On-chain netflows reflect caution despite minor bounce

As of August 6, AAVE recorded a net outflow of -$312.54K on spot exchanges, signaling increased token movement to exchanges, often associated with sell-side activity or profit booking. This continues a broader trend of negative netflows over the past month. Although the recent rally from below $250 led to short-lived inflow spikes, the sustained demand required for trend reversal is still absent. Unless netflows flip consistently positive, the risk of renewed downside remains.

Strong protocol fundamentals support long-term case

Despite short-term weakness, AAVE’s protocol metrics are robust. The platform has completed $15.7 million in token buybacks at an average of $223.33, now sitting on $2.6 million in unrealized profit. With buybacks continuing at $1 million per week and token emissions being halved, this signals long-term confidence from the team.

AAVE price dynamics (Source: TradingView)

AAVE currently holds $33 billion in total value locked and over $50 billion in net deposits, commanding a 25% market share in DeFi. The platform is especially dominant in dollar-based asset lending for Bitcoin users. Revenue-wise, the protocol crossed $86 million in 2024 and is pacing toward $150 million annualized in 2025, driven by AAVE V4 and Chainlink’s SVR launch.

In earlier analysis, we flagged a rising wedge breakdown near $261 that reversed the short-term uptrend. The rejection at the 0.382 Fibonacci and EMA cluster reinforces that bearish pressure is still in control. Bulls must reclaim the $266 zone decisively for any short-term reversal. Until then, price remains vulnerable to deeper pullbacks despite strong fundamentals.
