Crypto millionaires surge to 241,700 as Bitcoin wealth rises
Among global digital asset holders, there are 36 billionaires and 241,700 millionaires, with 60% of them building their wealth through Bitcoin.
According to a report by Henley & Partners and analytics firm New World Wealth, the number of crypto millionaires surged in 2024, reaching 241,700 — a 40% increase compared to 2023.
This surge is primarily attributed to Bitcoin’s price growth, which delivered record gains for investors.
The study highlights that 36 individuals in the crypto space hold billionaire status, with 17 of them owing their fortunes specifically to Bitcoin. Overall, around 60% of crypto millionaires accumulated their wealth through this asset. Additionally, 450 market participants surpassed $100 million in Bitcoin holdings, reflecting the concentration of large fortunes among a relatively small group of investors.
A narrow crypto elite
The combined wealth of crypto millionaires and billionaires is estimated at $3.3 trillion — a 45% increase year-over-year. Analysts called this growth “historic,” noting it coincided with key regulatory shifts and growing institutional adoption of digital assets.
Despite this remarkable expansion, crypto’s wealthy remain a small fraction compared to traditional capital. Crypto holders represent just 0.4% of the world’s 60 million millionaires, as estimated by UBS.
At the same time, the total number of digital asset users reached 590 million, accounting for around 7.4% of the global population.
