Crypto market recap: Visa pushes stablecoin adoption
Visa and EU offer conflicting visions for stablecoin future

Bitcoin (BTC) is trading at $114,556, up 0.5% in the past 24 hours and 1.6% for the week, showing steady resilience above key support levels.

Ethereum (ETH), however, slipped 1% to $4,144, highlighting ongoing weakness in altcoins despite broader market stability. XRP rose 1.7% to $2.84, while BNB pulled back 1.3% to $1,011. Solana (SOL) trades near $209, slightly lower on the day, while Cardano (ADA) edged up 0.4% to $0.80. Dogecoin (DOGE) remains under pressure at $0.23, losing 2.4% on the week. The overall crypto market cap sits at $3.91 trillion, with sentiment reading neutral at 42 on the Fear & Greed Index.

Stablecoin debates and adoption shape market sentiment

Regulation took the spotlight after reports suggested the European Union may consider stricter limits—or even a ban—on certain stablecoins, sparking heated debate across the industry. At the same time, Visa announced progress on its stablecoin pilot for cross-border payments, signaling that traditional finance continues to embrace blockchain technology despite regulatory headwinds.

These two developments highlight the contrasting forces shaping crypto’s future: policymakers weighing restrictions while major corporations accelerate adoption. Traders are closely watching whether regulatory tightening will dampen growth or if institutional adoption will offset the risks.

Crypto figures and global narratives influence outlook

Away from regulatory battles, attention turned to high-profile individuals shaping crypto’s story. Reports revealed that Telegram founder Pavel Durov has largely funded his lifestyle with Bitcoin rather than through his company, underscoring the growing role of crypto wealth among tech leaders.

Meanwhile, global adoption trends remain strong as corporations and individuals alike continue to integrate digital assets into everyday finance. Together, these narratives show that while regulatory uncertainty remains a hurdle, crypto’s cultural and economic footprint is expanding. With Bitcoin holding firm and institutional adoption growing, the sector appears positioned for further resilience as October trading unfolds.

Recently we wrote that Telegram founder and CEO Pavel Durov disclosed that he has been a Bitcoin believer since the cryptocurrency’s early years, having purchased several thousand BTC in 2013 at around $700 each.
