Following its decision to accept Bitcoin payments, the American restaurant chain Steak 'n Shake has introduced the “Bitcoin Steakburger,” featuring the BTC logo on the bun.
The chain, known for its steakburgers, launched the item on Thursday to celebrate five months of Bitcoin payments. The Bitcoin Steakburger — made with two steakburger patties, two slices of American cheese, pickles, onions, ketchup, and a bun marked with the Bitcoin logo — is available à la carte or as part of the “Bitcoin Combo” with fries and a drink.
“Hurry to any Steak 'n Shake and enjoy them while they last. Supplies are limited… just like Bitcoin,” the company wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
The restaurant chain began engaging with the Bitcoin community earlier this year, first enabling BTC payments in March.By May, Steak 'n Shake expanded Bitcoin payments to all its restaurants, giving over 100 million customers the ability to purchase burgers and milkshakes with BTC.
According to Decrypt, the decision seems to have paid off — same-store sales rose by double digits in both the second and third quarters, a growth partly attributed to enthusiasm from the Bitcoin community.
Recently, the brand asked its 468,000 X followers whether it should also accept Ethereum, potentially attracting another crypto audience. However, despite the poll results favoring ETH payments, the company reversed course following backlash from Bitcoin maximalists, stating it remains committed to “Bitcoiners.”
