Highlights

  • Federal Reserve interest rate and Treasury yield updates continue to inform US Dollar pricing and cross-border funding costs.
  • Commercial bank deposits in Uzbekistan rose 34.1% year-on-year to 487.6 trillion soums as of September 1, 2026, signaling stronger domestic liquidity.
  • USD/UZS trades with strong short- and medium-term bullish momentum in a projected range of UZS11,942 to UZS12,062, but overbought oscillators warn of possible near-term pullback.

Fed rates and Uzbek bank deposits reshape funding and currency flows

The market digested new data from the Federal Reserve, which on October 14 released its daily update on select interest rates and Treasury yields. These benchmarks remain central to the pricing of the US Dollar against external currencies, informing cross-border funding costs and shaping liquidity conditions. In addition, the Central Bank of Uzbekistan reported that deposits at commercial banks had increased 34.1% year-on-year to 487.6 trillion soums as of September 1, 2026, highlighting growth in domestic financial resources and influencing currency flow conditions on the UZS side.

Stretched momentum and bullish signals amid thin trend strength

On the technical front, the pair remains above the MA-20 at UZS11,935 and MA-50 at UZS11,920 on the 1-hour chart, as well as above the MA-200 at UZS12,000 on the daily timeframe. The Ichimoku Kijun at UZS11,920 provides immediate support. MACD and Awesome Oscillator both signal Buy, while ADX is Neutral, reflecting limited trend strength. RSI stands at 62.59, CCI and Stoch RSI are both overbought, and Bull/Bear Power is also overbought, all pointing to stretched momentum conditions but strong intraday buyer dominance.

High bullish breakout probability as range-bound trading persists

Over the next 2–3 sessions, USD/UZS is expected to trade within a UZS11,942 to UZS12,062 volatility band relative to current levels. The probability of further upside is considered very high, while the chances of a down move remain very low. The baseline scenario is for consolidation within this range, with a bullish breakout above resistance opening room to challenge the upper end. A drop below support, however, could quickly reverse the current trajectory, testing the lower part of the anticipated band.

Viktoras Karapetjanc, expert at Traders Union, notes that USD/UZS is supported by strong macro and fundamental drivers. He believes the Federal Reserve’s latest rate and yield signals add underlying strength to the US Dollar, while a surge in Uzbek bank deposits points to robust local liquidity. Current momentum and technicals also favor buyers, although overbought signals warrant attention. He expects consolidation with bullish bias in the short term. "With liquidity expanding on both sides, I see USD/UZS well positioned to break higher as long as the fundamentals remain this strong," Karapetjanc says.

Earlier, analysts noted that USD/UZS maintained a short- and medium-term bullish bias but faced lingering caution due to mixed momentum signals. The latest data further strengthens the bullish scenario, making a potential breakout above current resistance a key development to monitor for sustained upside in the pair.
