Highlights

  • EUR/TRY is currently trading above short-term support at ₺55.392 and close to resistance at ₺55.448.
  • Bearish momentum persists across multiple indicators including MACD, ADX, RSI, CCI, and Stochastic RSI, with only minor intraday buyer strength.
  • Over the next five trading days, the expected range is ₺55.1635 to ₺55.7194 with a 55% probability of a downward move.
Anton Kharitonov, expert at Traders Union, sees EUR/TRY showing only a weak technical recovery with momentum indicators pointing clearly bearish. He notes the pair remains below its 50-day moving average, which is a clear sign of medium-term headwinds. The lack of supportive news reduces the chance for sentiment-driven buying. Kharitonov argues that bearish signals on all oscillators overshadow minor short-term gains. "This move looks corrective only, and without fundamental drivers or strong technical confirmation, buyers remain vulnerable to renewed selling," he says.
Viktoras Karapetjanc, expert at Traders Union, highlights that the strong bounce from support aligns with a bullish long-term structure. Although EUR/TRY faces resistance near ₺55.448, he believes the rising 200-day average creates a foundation for further advances. Karapetjanc sees the current consolidation as healthy and expects renewed demand to emerge. He considers the lack of news noise as a plus for trend traders. "Momentum may be mixed now, but in my view, the market offers multiple setups and further growth remains a real possibility here," he states.
Sholanke Dele, market strategist, views the price action as lacking conviction and driven by short-term technicals rather than macroeconomic factors. Dele cautions that momentum remains mostly negative, and buyer interest is only marginal. The absence of any relevant news flow further stifles sentiment. "Without solid catalysts and with sellers dominating medium-term structure, I see no reason to expect a strong upside breakout," he comments.

Bearish momentum persists as medium-term sellers cap recovery

EUR/TRY is currently trading above the 20-day moving average (₺55.392), below the 50-day (₺55.8139), and well above the 200-day (₺53.6361) average. This structure reflects short-term support, medium-term pressure from sellers, and continued long-term bullish alignment with the MA-50 above the MA-200. The near-term floor is at ₺55.392 and the week high provides resistance at ₺55.448. Momentum signals are predominantly bearish, with the Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) and Average Directional Index (ADX) both forecasting a "Sell" outlook. The Relative Strength Index (RSI) sits at 40.47 with a "Sell" signal, showing limited oversold bias, and the Stochastic RSI is elevated at 76.42 with a "Strong Sell" indication. The Commodity Channel Index (CCI) is negative and recommends "Sell." Bull/Bear Power (BBP) is slightly positive at 0.1096, indicating buyers are marginally dominating intraday momentum, while the Awesome Oscillator (AO) gives a neutral signal. Daily movement is up, with the pair gaining 0.3338 (0.61%) to ₺55.4415 after opening nearly flat. The price is near its intraday high, with volatility at 0.90%. Intraday tone signals moderate strength as buyers test resistance above ₺55.44.

Earlier, analysts noted that EUR/TRY maintained a constructive technical backdrop supported by domestic lira stability and a balanced central bank policy approach. Current price action signals a shift toward short-term consolidation with elevated downside risk, making a sustained break below ₺55.392 a key level to watch for further weakness in the coming sessions.
