Highlights

  • EUR/EGP remains in a strong uptrend with the price above all key moving averages and persistent bullish momentum.
  • Technical indicators such as MACD, ADX, and oscillators indicate overbought conditions, signaling possible resistance for new buying.
  • EUR/EGP is likely to consolidate between EGP60.2607 and EGP61.9484, with over 80% probability of an upward move.
Anton Kharitonov, expert at Traders Union, observes that EUR/EGP’s move is driven mainly by persistent technical buying. He notes that all momentum indicators show overbought readings, a classic warning for cautious traders. Despite strong price action, the absence of fresh news or significant macro drivers calls into question the sustainability of this surge. The medium-term alignment between MA-50 and MA-200 still implies downside risk if momentum wanes. "Given current overbought conditions and lack of fundamental news, I see significant downside risk if buyers lose momentum," Kharitonov warns.
Viktoras Karapetjanc, expert at Traders Union, sees a robust bull run in EUR/EGP as technicals continue to favor buyers. He points out that the bullish structure remains intact, supported by all key moving averages and solid momentum. While recent news is scarce, Karapetjanc highlights the strong price action as a sign of market confidence and ongoing demand. He remains optimistic about further advances. "This setup offers traders strong upside prospects, and I expect EUR/EGP to test new highs in the coming sessions," says Karapetjanc.
Parshwa Turakhiya, analyst, identifies EUR/EGP as a momentum-driven play in an overbought zone. He notes traders should remain alert to volatility as the pair flirts with its recent highs. Turakhiya sees both rapid pullback and breakout opportunities depending on how traders react to these overextended conditions. "Short-term setups will reward nimble positioning — wait for either a quick reversal or a clean break above EGP61.1285," the analyst suggests.

Dominant bullish momentum as overbought signals raise caution

EUR/EGP is trading above the 20-, 50-, and 200-day moving averages, with the current price at EGP61.1046 compared to EGP59.1533 (MA-20), EGP59.1974 (MA-50), and EGP59.6305 (MA-200). This alignment signals strong bullish momentum across all time frames, though the medium-term trend context from the MA-50 versus MA-200 alignment remains bearish. The pair's near-term ceiling is EGP61.1285, with a near-term floor at EGP60.638. Momentum readings are firmly bullish: the Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) and Average Directional Index (ADX) both indicate buy signals, supported by an upward trend. The Relative Strength Index (RSI), Commodity Channel Index (CCI), and Stochastic RSI all point to overbought conditions, suggesting caution for new buyers. Bull/Bear Power (BBP) is above zero, confirming buyers are in control intraday and reinforcing the overbought outlook. The Awesome Oscillator also aligns with upward momentum. The pair is up EGP0.6512 or 1.08% after opening nearly flat, currently trading near the daily high as intraday volatility stands at 1.17%. This reflects persistent strength toward highs, fully confirmed by the momentum signals.

Earlier, analysts noted that persistent bullish momentum in the Euro vs Egyptian Pound was underpinned by strong technical signals and a supportive fundamental backdrop. The latest price action further validates this view, as buyers remain firmly in control, making the EGP61.1285 resistance the critical level to watch for any sustained breakout in the days ahead.
