Highlights

  • USD/CHF trades below short- and medium-term moving averages but holds above longer-term trend support.
  • Technical indicators flag weak momentum and intraday bearish or oversold conditions, with ADX and MACD remaining neutral.
  • Expected price range for the next two to three days is Fr.0.8157 to Fr.0.8239, with high probability of downside movement.

Seller momentum persists as price tests lower range

The pair is trading below both the MA-20 at Fr.0.8239 and MA-50 at Fr.0.8246, with immediate resistance from the Ichimoku Kijun at Fr.0.8229, while remaining supported above the MA-200 at Fr.0.8043. MACD and ADX are neutral, but momentum readings from RSI at 45.44, CCI (Sell), and Stoch RSI (Oversold) suggest a bearish or oversold tone intraday; Bull/Bear Power also signals seller dominance, with Awesome Oscillator remaining neutral. Intraday volatility is low and price action remains close to the session low following a small upward gap.

Downside risk elevated as rangebound outlook prevails

Over the next two to three trading days, USD/CHF is expected to trade between Fr.0.8157 and Fr.0.8239, remaining rangebound within this volatility band. The probability of a move to the upside is very low, while the likelihood of a further decline is high under current conditions. A sustained break above Fr.0.8229 would open a bullish scenario, whereas a drop below Fr.0.8157 support would confirm renewed downside momentum.

Anton Kharitonov, expert at Traders Union, sees USD/CHF locked in a technical downtrend, with key resistance holding and most intraday signals pointing to weakness. He notes the pair remains below both MA-20 and MA-50, while oversold momentum and low volatility limit rebound potential. Kharitonov is cautious due to the lack of fresh news or strong catalysts. "Unless USD/CHF breaks above Fr.0.8229, the bias remains defensive for further downside in the coming sessions."

Earlier, analysts noted that USD/CHF was experiencing persistent short- to medium-term downside pressure amid mixed momentum signals and ongoing bearish risks. The current analysis reinforces this view, with technicals still pointing to a bearish scenario and the risk of further declines should support at Fr.0.8157 be breached in the near term.
