Coinbase is expanding its Solana trading infrastructure by integrating DFlow as its primary router for spot and prediction markets. The change is intended to reduce failed trades, widen liquidity access for smaller tokens and improve execution prices for users.
Highlights
- Coinbase integrates DFlow as its primary router to support native value exchange across spot and prediction markets on Solana, reducing trade failures by eight times.
- Failed trades on Coinbase's Solana product drop from one in 30 to one in 250 due to DFlow, significantly improving liquidity access and order routing reliability.
- DFlow, serving over 1 million active traders monthly and recently adopted by Kalshi, enhances Coinbase's Solana-based trading execution quality, liquidity depth, and uptime.
Solana routing upgrade and execution gains
As reported by Coinbase in a press release, the U.S.-listed cryptocurrency exchange is adding DFlow to support native value exchange across spot and prediction markets on Solana. The companies say the integration cuts trade failures by eight times, improving the reliability of order routing on the platform.Coinbase says that before the integration, about one in 30 trades on its Solana product could not be routed because of insufficient liquidity coverage. With DFlow as the primary router, that rate falls to one in 250, according to the company.
Liquidity access and broader market impact
DFlow also helps route trades in smaller Solana tokens that previously showed no available liquidity when users attempted to sell. Coinbase says the protocol finds trading paths that other aggregators miss, particularly on sell orders, converting failed transactions into completed trades. The integration also strengthens Coinbase's position in Solana-based trading as exchanges compete on execution quality, liquidity depth and uptime. DFlow, which serves more than 1 million active traders each month, was also selected by prediction market operator Kalshi in December, underscoring growing demand for routing tools that can support more complex crypto market activity.
Richard Wu, Onchain Trading at Coinbase, says the best trading experience depends on infrastructure that operates around the clock, offers broad coverage and delivers strong pricing. He says adding DFlow supports all three areas.
In our earlier coverage of the CFTC’s proposed rule for event contracts in prediction markets, we explained how the agency sought public feedback amid a growing federal-state tug-of-war over oversight. We outlined how platforms and crypto firms such as Kalshi, Polymarket and Coinbase argued for the CFTC’s exclusive jurisdiction, while several state gambling regulators and consumer groups pushed for tighter limits and questioned whether these products amount to unlicensed gambling.
