Amazon is reshaping leadership at its healthcare division as it expands a business that includes One Medical clinics and prescription delivery. Dr. Roy Schoenberg is due to take charge on July 1, while current healthcare head Neil Lindsay is set to leave the company before the end of the year.

Leadership transition starts in July
As reported by Reuters, Amazon said on Wednesday that Schoenberg will take over the healthcare business starting July 1. He co-founded American Well Corp., known as Amwell, recently stepped down as executive chairman there, and served as co-CEO of the Boston-based telehealth company until 2024 before his brother Ido became sole chief executive.Schoenberg is also chief executive of privately held elder care startup Aileen.ai, which he co-founded. It is not yet clear whether he plans to leave that role before beginning at Amazon.
Lindsay is relinquishing his position leading Amazon's healthcare unit and is leaving the company before year-end. He has spent nearly five years running the business and 16 years at Amazon, after taking charge of healthcare in November 2021 following earlier senior roles including oversight of the Prime membership program and Kindle marketing.

Amazon's healthcare operations span several businesses, including the One Medical clinic chain and prescriptions by mail. The company has said the segment is among its fastest-growing businesses, although it does not separately disclose financial results for the unit.Investors reacted positively to the leadership change. Amazon shares rose 2.5% to $271.85, while Amwell gained 4.2% to $8.84.
