Kyiv talks reinforce bilateral commitment

As reported by GOV.UK, the Prime Minister meets President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv during his fourth visit to Ukraine and says the UK's support since the start of Russia's illegal war remains unwavering.

The Prime Minister says he is grateful and deeply humbled to receive the Order of Freedom for outstanding merit, described as the highest honour Ukraine can give to anyone from another country. The two leaders discuss efforts to put Ukraine in the strongest possible position to achieve victory and a lasting peace, and the Prime Minister says he is certain that progress continues.

War pressure and regional significance

Both leaders agree that the increase in attacks on Kyiv in recent weeks is despicable, while the Prime Minister praises the courage and defiance of the Ukrainian people. The meeting comes as the war runs into its fifth year, keeping security and diplomatic support at the centre of UK-Ukraine relations.

The two sides also thank each other for their close work over the last two years and say the relationship between the UK and Ukraine is stronger than ever before. They add that they will remain in close contact and look forward to meeting again.
