CVC Cordatus notes upgraded

Fitch Ratings upgrades four note tranches of CVC Cordatus Opportunity Loan Fund-R DAC and affirms the remaining classes as the static loan portfolio continues to deleverage. The rating action also removes the class B-R to E-R notes from Under Criteria Observation after Fitch’s June 2026 methodology update lifted recovery assumptions for the transaction.

Highlights

  • Fitch upgrades CVC Cordatus Opportunity Loan Fund-R DAC class B-R to AAAsf, C-R to AA-sf, D-R to BBB+sf, and E-R to BB+sf, affirming A-R and F-R.
  • Upgrade reflects implementation of Fitch's June 1, 2026 updated CLOs and Corporate CDOs Rating Criteria and a weighted average recovery rate rising to 65.2% from 59%.
  • Continued deleveraging, including 43% repayment of class A-R notes post-March 2025 refinancing, and higher credit enhancement support rating upgrades and affirmations.

Rating actions and upgrade drivers

As reported by Fitch Ratings, the agency raises the ratings on the class B-R, C-R, D-R and E-R notes, while affirming the class A-R and F-R notes. The upgraded classes move to AAAsf from AAsf for class B-R, to AA-sf from Asf for class C-R, to BBB+sf from BBB-sf for class D-R, and to BB+sf from BBsf for class E-R.

Fitch says the action incorporates its updated CLOs and Corporate CDOs Rating Criteria published on 1 June 2026. Under the revised methodology, the agency calculates the transaction’s weighted average recovery rate at 65.2%, up from 59%, which supports the higher ratings.

The agency also points to continued deleveraging in the static transaction. About 43% of the class A-R notes have been repaid since the March 2025 refinancing, and higher credit enhancement across the capital structure is helping drive the upgrades and affirmations.

Our earlier article on Fitch’s BBB- rating for Hainan Rubber’s proposed subordinated perpetual sustainable securities explained how the instruments’ junior ranking in the capital structure and coupon-deferral flexibility influenced the assessment. It also outlined Fitch’s view of the group’s leverage and liquidity profile, plus the role of parent support via Hainan State Farms and the strategic importance of the natural-rubber business in the rating rationale.
