U.S. Postal Service to impose 8% fuel surcharge, Ed Krassenstein reveals
The United States Postal Service will introduce its first-ever 8% fuel surcharge on packages starting next month. Ed Krassenstein reports this change comes as a result of surging diesel prices, which have hit $5.38 per gallon, up 51% year over year, triggered by ongoing supply disruptions attributed to Donald Trump's war in Iran.
E-commerce shipping expenses are expected to rise alongside higher fuel costs.
Former President Trump previously stated that high oil prices were favorable during his time in office, according to comments reported by Ed Krassenstein. Earlier this year, Carlyle Energy Pathways strategist Jeff Currie warned of a severe U.S. oil supply disruption linked to Trump-era policies in remarks covered by Krassenstein. The latest USPS fuel surcharge comes as these earlier concerns over supply constraints have intensified.
