Millions use Bitcoin based on multiple data sources, Alex Gladstein notes
Alex Gladstein, chief strategy officer at the Human Rights Foundation, highlights that tens of millions of people are using Bitcoin, citing data from exchanges, wallets, and academic research.
Gladstein also contrasts the media coverage of Bitcoin usage versus alternative cryptocurrencies, referencing how mainstream publications respond differently to reporting on altcoins.
Earlier this year, Gladstein reported that OpenSats had distributed nearly 40 billion sats to 400 open-source grantees in over 40 countries, according to foundation data. He also convened with international human rights advocates in Las Vegas to discuss global Bitcoin integration in rights-focused work, as noted in a recent meeting. These activities reflect continued engagement with Bitcoin in both advocacy and funding contexts.
