TMT sectors drive S&P 500 concentration

Mario Nawfal, founder & CEO at IBC Group, points to an unprecedented surge in the concentration of technology, media, and telecom (TMT) sectors within the S&P 500 index.

According to Nawfal, tech stocks are showing trends not observed since the dot-com era of the late 1990s and early 2000s, with TMT sectors now commanding nearly half of the benchmark index—about 9 percentage points higher than previous peaks.

Earlier, Nawfal highlighted that the top 10 mega-cap stocks had held a record 43% share of S&P 500 index value for 12 consecutive months, according to a recent analysis. In a separate update, he discussed Elon Musk’s launch of SpaceX’s STARMIND AI satellite network involving one million satellites. These posts reflect Nawfal’s ongoing focus on market concentration and technology developments.
