Open-source Bitcoin projects face attacks

Francis Pouliot, CEO at BullBitcoin.com, notes a pattern of open-source Bitcoin projects with a focus on self-custody and private payments being targeted.

He argues that these projects are more vulnerable because their code is openly available, making it easier to identify exploits and for individuals—white hats or grey hats—to act on them.

Pouliot previously issued an advisory to BULL users after Boltz suspended its services. He also noted that Boltz maintains its independence through ongoing open dialogue with industry partners such as BULL, according to a separate update on industry collaboration. Both incidents have highlighted his ongoing engagement with self-custody and project integrity concerns in the open-source Bitcoin ecosystem.
