Alex Thorn: Coldcard Wave 3 hacker moves stolen funds to ETH via THORChain
Coldcard hacker transfers funds to ETH

Alex Thorn reports that the exploiter behind the third wave of the Coldcard attacks has moved stolen funds on-chain for the first time. The hacker swapped the assets to ETH using the THORChain cross-chain decentralized exchange.

According to Thorn, this is the first instance of funds from waves 1, 2, or 3 being transferred on-chain from the original hacker addresses.

Thorn previously analyzed the Coldcard exploit’s immediate impact on affected users and the bitcoin market in a detailed report. In a follow-up, he reported that assistance for Coldcard victims was in progress as teams handled a high volume of tracing requests and maintenance needs, according to an update. These developments follow ongoing efforts to address losses from the reported waves of attacks.
