Alex Thorn: Build open money and intelligence to preserve freedom
Open money and intelligence for freedom

Alex Thorn stated that open money and open intelligence should be developed with the goal of maintaining freedom. He referenced an edited version of his recent speech at the Bitcoin Policy Institute's Freedom Tech Summit.

Thorn previously investigated a Ledger supply chain attack that resulted in a theft of 213.42 BTC, worth $17.7 million, as detailed in his reporting on the incident. He also reported that the U.S. government held over 300,000 BTC in both January 2025 and October 2026, valued at up to $34.1 billion according to data from those periods. Thorn’s recent remarks build on his earlier detailed coverage of security and government holdings in the digital asset space.
